Dutch semiconductor company ASML will invest €100 million ($109 million) in 2023 and the same amount annually in coming years to expand its production and development capacity at its chipmaking factory in Berlin, Handelsblatt newspaper reported.
The chipmaker currently employs 1,700 people in Berlin, according to the report. It has added 600 employees since the beginning of 2022, and plans to expand its workforce to 2,300 within a few years, the paper cited ASML’s George Gomba as saying.
