“I recently transitioned the management of Barker Realty to Kyle Klain and Gabrielle Vigil,” says David Barker. “Over the last few years I have come to admire their integrity, work ethic, knowledge and enthusiasm. While they have been managing the company for the most part for nearly a decade, this makes it official.”
David Barker continues, “I will continue to be focused on what I enjoy best — working with our broker and clients on their transactions, plus coaching and mentoring our brokers to enhance their success in the business. The Barker family has been an integral part of the Santa Fe community for four generations, since N.B. Laughlin arrived in Santa Fe from Texas on horseback in the 1880s. His grandson, Laughlin Barker, founded Barker Realty more than 50 years ago. David and Lisa joined Laughlin in the business in 1978, carrying forward the family tradition.
The business model Barker Realty is moving into is very unusual in the real estate industry. Typically the Qualifying Broker is also the President and CEO. “Over the years, we’ve learned that this is too much to be done effectively by one person,” Kyle Klain says. “After a lot of analysis, we are now implementing a more cohesive approach — a division of talents allowing us to focus on what we know helps our brokers and staff to succeed at the highest level.”
Kyle and Gabrielle come to the table with very unique abilities — Kyle with his creativity and vision, and Gabrielle with her organizational and operational skills. “They complement each other completely, and as a team I am constantly wowed with how far they have moved this company forward in the last few years,” David says.
